The St. Mary Parish School Board has called a special meeting for Tuesday to talk about the resolution that authorized a vote on a new half-cent sales tax.
The agenda for the 5 p.m. meeting at the Central Office Complex in Centerville says the meeting is being called “to discuss potential amendments to the previously adopted resolution ordering and calling an election ... and take appropriate action.”
The tax, which would generate an estimated $4 million a year for teacher and staff pay raises and classroom technology enhancements, has proven to be controversial.
