For the second time in as many weeks, the Long-Allen La. 182 Bridge has been closed after an accident in which the height restriction barrier was damaged.
The Long-Allen La. 182 Bridge was reopened Wednesday as of 12:30 p.m., according to a Morgan City Police Department Facebook post.
Traffic barricades at California and Fifth streets in Berwick keep motorists from accessing the Long-Allen La. 182 Bridge in the background where a Berwick Police and state Department of Transportation Vehicle were stationed. The bridge was closed Tuesday afternoon after an 18-wheeler struck a beam on the Berwick side in place to prevent vehicles over a certain height from crossing the bridge. The bridge will remain closed overnight and for an indefinite time period Wednesday, Berwick Police Chief David Leonard said. (The Daily Review/Geoff Stoute)
