The Stop the Stigma Scholarship in honor of Coach Trey Smith is granted annually to a graduating high school senior interested in mental health awareness. Caitlyn Minton presented Madison Lancon with her scholarship.

The Miles Liner Foundation Scholarship was established in memory of Miles Liner, a 2010 graduate of Berwick High School. Miles was an accomplished student-athlete who demonstrated outstanding leadership skills and possessed a dynamic personality. After graduation, Miles attended LSU and was a junior studying biological engineering when he was tragically killed. Parents Mike and Lynn Liner awarded the scholarship to one Central Catholic High School senior who shared similar values with Miles. Principal Peter Boudreaux presents this year’s scholarship to Abbie Scully.

The H & B Young Foundation Scholarship recipients must live within the corporate limits of Morgan City, have been enrolled in the TOPS University Diploma curriculum, and must be planning to attend a four-year accredited university in fall 2022. Applicants must submit a personal statement and are interviewed by a panel of community members. Principal Pete Boudreaux presented this year’s H & B Young Foundation Scholarships to Olivia Black and Spencer Hebert.

The George Allen Picou Scholarship was instituted during the 1991 school year in Picou’s memory. The individual who receives this scholarship must display the qualities of generosity, honesty and dependability. The student must have a good work ethic and be blessed with a good sense of humor. Principal Pete Boudreaux presented this year’s Picou Scholarship to Nicolas Spitale.

Central Catholic High School scholarships

These Central Catholic High School students received year-end scholarships. Commencement ceremonies were conducted May 21 at Holy Cross Church with Diocesan Administrator P.J. Madden officiating.
