This MD-500 helicopter, owned and operated by Southern Helicopters in Sunshine, La., is operating from Perry Flying Center at the Harry P. Williams Memorial Airport near Patterson. It is in St. Mary parish to clear electrical line rights-of-way for the next couple of weeks. The saw is sling-loaded below the helicopter and consists of 10 24-inch blades powered by a gasoline Kohler engine located in the pod located at the top of the saw stack. The unit is controlled by the helicopter pilot.
