Three Berwick High School softball players earned honorable mention recognition on the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 3A All-State Softball team. Freshman second baseman Mikah Ortiz, senior centerfielder Alyssa Gray and senior shortstop Madison Carline each were honored. Ortiz batted .563 this season with 11 doubles, three triples, 23 RBIs, 31 runs scored and 12 stolen bases. Russo said Ortiz had a great year. “Defensively, she made big-time plays for us. ...
