The No. 12 seed Patterson Lumberjacks gave the No. 5 Carroll Bulldogs all they wanted but ultimately dropped a heartbreaker, 32-30, in Monroe Tuesday evening in Class 3A regional round action.
While Carroll took a 13-8 lead after a quarter, Patterson countered with a 10-4 second-quarter scoring advantage for an 18-17 halftime lead.
Carroll outscored Patterson 8-3 in the third period for a 25-21 lead heading to the fourth.
In the fourth period, Patterson held a 9-7 scoring advantage but could get no closer.
Dajon Richard and Reginald Talver led Patterson with seven points apiece. Other Patterson scorers were Drew Lucas and Tyrone Tillman,
