Patterson High School's Dajon Richard dives with the football during regular-season action against Berwick. The Lumberjacks, Class 3A's No. 21 seed, fell on the road in Class 3A first-round action to No. 12 seed Iota 42-28 Friday. Richard led the Lumberjacks with 24 carries for 221 yards and two scores. Guillory leads Iota past Patterson 42-28

The No. 21 Patterson Lumberjacks struck first against No. 12 Iota on the road in Class 3A first-round action, but the home standing Bulldogs countered and simply had too much for Patterson to handle as the Lumberjacks fell 42-28 Friday in Iota. The Iota offense was led by running back Kaleb Guillory, who rushed 43 times for 349 yards and four touchdowns. As a team, Iota totaled 439 yards of offense (398 rushing and 41 passing).
