A 37-year-old Morgan City man was arrested Thursday after detectives attempted to stop a pickup truck in Amelia, and the man then fled on foot until authorities caught him when he slipped trying to jump across a ditch, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release. —Nathaniel Washington, 37, of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:39 p.m. Thursday on the charges of improper backing, reckless operation of a vehicle, driving with a suspended license and resisting an officer.
