Sorrow consumes couple’s lives after son’s suicide

DEAR ABBY: I’ve been thinking about suicide a lot lately, more than usual. I’m not angry about anything, just in pain. I keep getting knocked down after I try so hard to pick myself up.
DEAR ABBY: I have a friend on social media whose brother died by suicide several months ago. She was the one who found him. They were close, and I think he was her last immediate family member.
DEAR ABBY: I am a 61-year-old widower. A year ago I faced a bleak future and expressed a desire to kill myself.
DEAR ABBY: I read that there is a suicide somewhere in the world every 40 seconds. Numbers rise at holiday time.
