Patterson 12U Red All-Stars finish as state runner-up

The Patterson Babe Ruth 12U All-Stars Red team finished the weekend as runner-up at the Babe Ruth Louisiana State Tournament at Kemper Williams Park near Patterson.

Area teams compete on baseball field in 7- and 8-year-old action

St. Mary Central finished 2-1 this weekend in the District 3-AA Dixie Youth baseball tournament to lead Tri-City area squads in action at Complex Park in Morgan City.

Bourgeois signs with Baton Rouge Community College

Ex-Morgan City High School basketball standout Laqwaijha Bourgeois has signed with Baton Rouge Community College to continue her hoops career.

James Kelly Jr. won three awards in the third annual NPC Iron Works Gym’s Battle of the Gulf Coast bodybuilding competition June 17 in Biloxi, Mississippi. He was Overall Men’s Uniformed Service Bodybuilding Champion, first place Lightweight Men’s Uniformed Bodybuilding and fifth place Men’s Physique True Novice. Kelly plans to continue his weight training and coach and teach others how to live a healthier and fit lifestyle. He is the son of Rosalie and James Kelly Sr. of Morgan City. (Submitted Photo)
