WEST ST. MARY races onto Wolfpack Field during Friday’s Homecoming win over the Delcambre Panthers. The West St. Mary (2-3, 2-0) defeated the Panthers by a score of 48-0 in District 7-2A play. WSM will travel to face the Catholic High of New Iberia Panthers on Thursday in District 7-2A action.

West St. Mary pounds Panthers 48-0 at home

BALDWIN - West St. Mary scored on the first play of the game, setting the tone for a 48-0 homecoming victory over the outmanned Delcambre Panthers here Friday at Wolfpack Stadium in District 7-2A action.
West St. Mary (2-3, 2-0) jumped to 14-0 in the first quarter on clutch plays by Daylon Richards and Ray Johnson.
Richards brought the Homecoming crowd to its feet when he fired a 65-yard touchdown pass to Dondre Johnson on the Wolfpack opening play from scrimmage as WSM built a 6-0 lead of which it would never relinquish.
West St. Mary, which tallied 541 yards on the night, went ahead by a 14-0 lead early in the first quarter when Ray Johnson scored on a 22-yard jaunt.
Desmon Washington scored two of his four touchdowns in the second quarter, lifting the Wolfpack ahead to a 28-0 halftime cushion.
Washington, who finished the night with 35 carries for 261 yards, scored his first touchdown on a 38 yard run. A short time later, Washington hit paydirt on a 7 yard run, giving the West St. Mary Wolfpack a 28-0 advantage.
Washington later capped a drive with a 1-yard TD plunge in the third quarter, sending the Wolfpack outfront by a 34-0 margin.
West St. Mary quarterback Taylun Druilhet, who completed 7 of 11 passes for 199 yards, connected on a 38 yard scoring strike to Daylon Richards as the Wolfpack secured a 40-0 advantage in the third quarter.
Washington added a 33-yard scoring run, helping the Wolfpack post a 48-0 Homecoming victory over the Delcambre Panthers.
Washington led the West St. Mary Wolfpack in scoring with 261 yards on 35 carries and four touchdowns. Richards caught four passes for 118 yards and 1 TD. Druilhet completed 7 of 11 passes for 119 yards and one TD.
West St. Mary (2-3, 2-0) will travel to play the Catholic High of New Iberia Panthers (4-1, 1-0) on Thursday in District 7-2A action.
