Welsh posts win over Franklin

WELSH _ No. 3 seed Welsh Greyhounds posted a 21-1 win over No. 30 seed Franklin Hornets here Monday in the LHSAA Class 2-A Bi-District playoffs.
Franklin pitcher Ruston Bertrand took the loss after working two innings, allowing 16 runs (14 earned) on 12 hits with one strikeout and 3 walks.
Rocky Giroir relieved Bertrand over the final two innings, yielding five runs (4 earned) on four hits with four strikeouts and one walk.
Leading hitters for Franklin were: Gavin Dozier, 1 for 2, RBI and Jabari Daye, walk, run, stolen base.
Welsh scored seven runs in the bottom half of the first inning before tacking on nine more in the second frame along with two more in the third and three additional runs in the fourth stanza.
Franklin tallied its run in the top half of the fifth inning.
