Gilmore, Massey win in inaugural tourney
On July 28, Tim Gilmore of Bayou Vista teamed up with Donna Massey of Conroe, Texas to win the 30-foot division in the inaugural Backyard Horseshoe Tournament at the World Horseshoe Tournament in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Backyard Horseshoe Day featured 43 teams in the afternoon session.
Gilmore and Massey won their first game then dropped their second game. They worked their way back through the losers bracket having to defeat the only undefeated team twice.
The World Horseshoe Tournament continues through Aug. 3 with local Bayou Horseshoe Pitchers Association members competing in action.

In all, 15 pitchers from Louisiana are on the competition list.
Monroe will be the 2020 World Tournament host city.
