Central Catholic rallies past Centerville High

CENTERVILLE _ The Central Catholic Eagles rallied past the Centerville Bulldogs, 46-15, Thursday in District 7-A action at Bulldog Stadium.
Central Catholic (5-4) moved to 4-1 in District 7-A while needing a 23-point outburst in the third quarter to notch the league victory over Centerville.
Central Catholic, which held a narrow 16-7 lead at the half, broke open the close game with 23 points in the third quarter on the way to the 46-15 win.
The Eagles held an 8-7 lead at the end of the first quarter before building a 16-7 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, Central Catholic soared ahead by a 39-15 advantage. The Central Catholic Eagles added one score in the final period for the 46-15 win over Centerville.
Jaylon Cooks led the Centerville in rushing with 12 carries for 103 yards and one touchdown. Noah Verret finished with eight carries for 100 yards while Matt LeBourgeois finished with 14 totes for 26 yards. Morty Frederick had three touches for 8 yards while Braden Gaspard scored one touchdown on two carries.
Gaspard connected on 1 of 5 passes for 16 yards.
Matt LeBourgeois had one catch for 16 yards.
Morty Frederick led the Bulldogs with 12 tackles, including six solo and six assists. Other top tacklers for CHS included: Andrew Cuvillier, 2 solo, 5 assists, 7 total; Ben Simpson, 2 assists, 2 total; Xavier Armstrong, 5 solo, 4 assists, 9 total; Noah Verret, 2 solo, 5 assist, 7 total; Amarion Chatman, 3 assists, 3 total; Collyn Pontiff, 1 solo, 1 assist, 2 total; Dravin Martin, 3 solo, 5 assists, 8 total; Dorian Sam, 1 assist, 1 total; Matt LeBourgeois, 2 solo, 3 assists, 5 total and Jaylon Cooks, 3 solo, 4 assists, 7 total.
Centerville (4-5, 1-4) will make the short drive to play Hanson Memorial on Friday in the regular season District 7-A finale.
