Centerville falls to Vermillion Catholic 49-6

ABBEVILLE _ The Vermilion Catholic Eagles handed the Centerville Bulldogs their first loss of the season with a 49-6 District 7-A victory here Friday.
Centerville (4-1, 0-1) dropped its first league game of the season in Friday’s loss to the undefeated Vermilion Catholic Eagles.
VCHS quarterback Drew Lege connected on 19 of 24 passes 353 yards and six touchdowns.
VCHS (4-1, 2-0) raced outfront by a 35-0 lead in the first quarter on a pair of touchdowns by Kris Constatine on touchdown receptions of 18 and 41 yards along with Camden Sellers’ touchdown catch of 39 yards along with a 28-yard TD catch by Kalix Broussard and a interception return by Ethan Lege.
In the second quarter Constantine hauled in his third TD pass on the night while Garrett Wiggins grabbed a 13-yard aerial strike, giving the Vermilion Catholic Eagles a 49-0 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, Centerville’s Matthew Lebougeois scored on a 12-yard run to help the Bulldogs trail the VCHS Eagles by a score of 49-6.
Lebourgeois led the Bulldogs in rushing with 17 carries for 159 yards and one touchdown. Jaylon Cooks finished with 17 totes for 67 yards.
Morty Frederick led the Bulldogs’ defensive unit with 10 tackles, including four solo and six assists. Other leading tacklers for CHS included: Andrew Cuvillier, 4 solo, 2 assists, 6 total; Barrett Landry, 3 solo, 1 assist, 4 total, 1 tackle for loss; Xavier Armstrong, 2 solo, 2 total; Amarion Chatman, 3 solo, 2 assists, 5 total, 1 tackle for loss; Collyn Pontiff, 1 solo, 1 assist, 2 total; Dravin Martin, 1 solo, 4 assists, 5 total; Payton Nash, 2 solo, 2 total; Dorian Sam, 1 solo, 3 assists, 4 total; Matt Lebourgeois, 3 solo, 3 total and Jaylon Cooks, 4 solo, 2 assists, 6 total.
Centerville (4-1, 1-0) will play host to Gueydan (2-3, 0-2) on Thursday in District 7-A action at Bulldog Field at 7 p.m.
