Centerville 11-11 with triumph over Highland
CENTERVILLE _ Centerville evened its overall record to 11-11 Friday with a 90-26 triumph over Highland Baptist at the CHS Gymnasius.
Centerville improved to 11-11 on the season and 2-2 in 7-1A.
Highland Baptist is now 1-20 overall and 0-5 in 7-1A.
Centerville will host Central Catholic on tonight while Highland Baptist will host Vermilion Catholic.
Centerville raced out to a lop-sided 25-4 lead in the opening frame. Centerville took a commanding 60-10 halftime cushion. Centerville put the game out of reach by the third quarter with a 79-20 advantage. In the final quarter, Centerville strolled away with a 90-26 District 7-A victory.
Jaylon Williams connected on five treys, three deuces and 2 of 2 free throws 23 points to lead the Centerville Bulldogs.
Marquis Strawder poured in 16 points, bagging 4-2’s, 2-3’s and 2 of 2 charity shots.
Jackson Hebert added 15 points on 4-2’s, 2-3’s and 1 of 1 freebies.
Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs were: Landon Lanclos, 3-2’s, 1-3, 9; Tykeith Joseph, 4-2’s, 8; Jaylon Cooks, 3-2’s, 6; Andrew Johnson, 2-2’s, 4 points;
Collin Deslatte 1-3, 3; Xavier Armstrong 1-2, 2; Ryan Young, 1-2, 2 and Kobe Randolph, 1-2, 2.
Centerville went 5 for 5 from the free throw line on the night while committing 13 fouls.
M. Elrod led Highland Baptist with six points on the night.
