Bayou Horseshoe Pitchers Association members competed in the Harahan Spring Horseshoe Classic April 21 at Waggaman Playground. In Class A, Tim Gilmore, center, of Bayou Vista placed second with a 5-2 mark and a ringer percentage of 63.8. In Class B, Glenn Caillouet of Raceland, a Bayou Horseshoe Pitchers Association member, placed third with a 5-2 mark and a 27.5 ringer percentage. Gary Verheide of Harahan won the event after defeating second-place finisher Gil Gerard of Harahan in a 40-shoe playoff game after the two finished regulation in a tie. Verheide finished the event with a 7-1 mark and an 18.5 ringer percentage, while Gerard was 6-2 with a ringer percentage of 29.0. From left are Verheide, Gerard and Caillouet.
