THIBODAUX – The awards continue to pile for Nicholls State University softball’s Megan Landry as the sophomore has been named Pitcher of the Week by the Southland Conference and Louisiana Sports Writers Association, the organizations announced Tuesday.
Landry, a Central Catholic alum, landed her third Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week honor this season after recording wins in both of her starts against Houston Baptist in the conference’s first weekend of league games.
The right-hander from Pierre Part posted a 0.58 ERA and 16 strikeouts in her two complete games.
In just five innings in the opening game Friday, Landry recorded nine strikeouts in the Colonels’ shutout run-rule victory.
She followed that performance by holding the Huskies to a run in seven innings Saturday, striking out seven.
Landry leads the Southland with nine wins and 84 strikeouts.
She also received the same honor from the Louisiana Sports Writer’s Association, becoming the first Colonel softball player this season to earn recognition from the state-wide organization.
Nicholls will continue conference play this weekend with a three-game set at Stephen F. Austin, starting Friday at 3 p.m.
