ORDINANCE
NO. 2360
An ordinance to amend Ordinance No. 2325 pertaining to the designation of Election Districts and Voting Precincts.
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2325 was dutifully adopted by the St. Mary Parish Council on the 7th day of March 2023; and,
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2325, as outlined in Chapter 8 of the Code of Ordinances, Sections 8-1 and 8-2, established Election Districts and Voting Precincts within St. Mary Parish; and,
WHEREAS, subsequent to the adoption of this ordinance, the Secretary of State brought to light that certain precincts, as established, cannot be implemented due to their overlap with state representative boundaries; and,
WHEREAS, a thorough review has confirmed that necessary adjustments to these precinct boundaries will not disrupt the alignment of St. Mary Parish Council districts; and
WHEREAS, an unintended modification to the At-Large Districts was also identified, which was not the original intent of the Council; now,
THEREFORE, THE SAINT MARY PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS that in accordance with applicable law, Ordinance 2325 be hereby amended as follows:
SECTION 1: AMENDING AND ESTABLISHING OF SECTION 8-1: ELECTION DISTRICTS DESIGNATED

SECTION 5: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith or incompatible with the provision of this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION 6: This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon passage by the Parish Council and approval by the Parish President.
