Woman charged with meth possession

A 39-year-old woman was booked on multiple charges after she was caught in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia when Morgan City police responded to a disturbance, Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.

—Crystal Thompson, 39, of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:33 a.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of juveniles, violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law-drug-free zone and a warrant charging her with two counts of failure to appear for trial.

Patrol officers responded to a home in the area of Levee Road in regard to a disturbance. Officers arrived when Thompson was identified. Thompson had an active warrant for her arrest through 16th Judicial District Court. Thompson was in possession of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, Blair said.

A child was located in the home during the incident and the area of the home was within a drug-free zone. Thompson was jailed.

Blair reported that officers responded to 43 calls and reported the following arrest:

—Crystal R. Swan, 26, of Birch Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:35 p.m. Tuesday on a hold for Terrebonne Parish. Swan was located and arrested in the area of Birch Street on a warrant for 32nd Judicial District Court. Swan was jailed.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum reported that deputies responded to 47 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:

—Crystal Billiot, 42, of Shannon Street in Patterson, was arrested at 4:27 p.m. Tuesday on charges of driving without insurance, stop sign violation, no registration and switched license plate.

Deputies patrolling Amelia responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint near a business on La. 182. Deputies observed a vehicle matching the given description fail to stop at a stop sign. Deputies conducted a traffic stop with said vehicle and made contact with the driver, Billiot.

Deputies found evidence that Billiot was operating the vehicle without registration documents and insurance. Deputies also learned that the license plate displayed on the vehicle belonged to a different vehicle, Anslum said. Billiot was released on a summons to appear in court Oct. 5.

—Chasity Arcemont, 34, of Mars Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of theft. A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista responded to a local business for a shoplifting complaint. The deputy found evidence that Arcemont concealed items throughout the store and made an attempt to exit without paying for the items, Anslum said. Arcemont was released on a summons to appear in court Oct. 5.

—Jerry Percle Jr., 50, of Third Street in Berwick, was arrested at 4:52 p.m. Tuesday on warrants charging him with failure to appear on the charge of possession of methamphetamine and failure to use signals, failure to appear on a charge of possession of methamphetamine, failure to appear on a charge of residential contractor fraud, failure to appear on a charge of theft and failure to appear on a charge of attempted theft of a motor vehicle and theft.

Percle was transported from Terrebonne Parish to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking and incarceration . No bail was set.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.

Patterson Police Chief Janis Merritt reported no arrests.
