Three arrested after stop, home search

Three people were arrested on multiple drug charges Monday in Amelia after authorities stopped a car that drove off the roadway, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Somoa Scott, 20, of Village Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 2:32 p.m. Monday on charges of improper lane usage, possession of synthetic cannabinoids with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law-drug free zone, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a firearm or illegal carrying of a concealed weapon by a person convicted of certain felonies.
—Racquel Barber, 41, of Village Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 2:32 p.m. Monday on charges of possession of synthetic cannabinoids with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of carisoprodol, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law-drug free zone and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
—Joshua Smith, 21, of Village Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 1:30 p.m. Monday on a charge of possession of marijuana.
A patrol deputy and narcotics detective conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing the car drive off the roadway on Lake Palourde Road in Amelia. The deputy made contact with the occupants inside and identified them as Smith, Scott and Barber. The deputy received consent to search Smith and located a small amount of marijuana.
During the investigation, detectives obtained a warrant to search the home of Scott, Barber and Smith and found synthetic cannabinoids and methamphetamine packaged in a manner consistent with illegal drug sales. Detectives also located a firearm at the home.
Detectives collected evidence that the drugs belonged to Scott and Barber. The three suspects were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Smith is being held on detainers for warrants from other agencies. No bail is set.
Hebert reported responding to 32 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrest in east St. Mary Parish:
—William Doiron, 21, of Oak Harbor Drive in Stephensville, was arrested at 5:55 p.m. Monday on charges of theft of goods and criminal damage to property.
A deputy responded to a report of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy spoke with store security personnel and viewed video evidence of a person breaking a security bracket and stealing an iPhone.
The deputy positively identified the person as Doiron. Narcotics detectives located Doiron at a business in Morgan City and transported him to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in reference to the investigation. Doiron was subsequently jailed with no bail set.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrest:
—Leeann N. Jones, 30, of Azalea Drive in Donner, was arrested at 9:22 p.m. Monday on warrants charging her with possession of methamphetamine, introduction of contraband into a penal facility and failure to appear to pay a fine.
Jones was transported from the Patterson Police Department and arrested on Morgan City Court warrants. The warrants stem from a February investigation where suspected methamphetamine was located in the Morgan City jail. During the investigation, evidence was uncovered linking Jones to the crime. Jones was booked into jail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Justin Adams, 39, of Front Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:10 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of monetary instrument abuse. Adams allegedly had a fake $100 bill in his possession. No bail is set.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
