Teens booked on charges relating to burglary

Three teens have been arrested in connection with an Aug. 25 burglary of a Bayou L’Ourse home after they were located at a Morgan City motel, Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon said in a news release.

—Timothy Wayne Collier, 18, of Texas Street in Berwick, was arrested on charges of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and illegal possession of a stolen firearm.

—Tanner Joseph Scarbrough, 17, of Bayou Black Drive in Houma, was charged with simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling and simple criminal damage to property.

—A 16-year-old juvenile was arrested on a charge of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.

On Aug. 25, deputies responded to home in Bayou L’Ourse. Deputies were advised by the owner that as she arrived at her home, she noted several people running from the home, Falcon said.

Detectives responded and immediately began processing the crime scene and interviewing potential witnesses. Those witnesses were able to identify Collier, Scarbrough and the juvenile as three suspects, Falcon said.

Detectives and officers from Morgan City Police Department were able to locate the three suspects at a Morgan City motel. Detectives recovered evidence connected to the crime at the motel, Falcon said.

Authorities interviewed the three suspects and determined that Collier and the juvenile had been staying at the home when the owner was away, Falcon said.

Scarbrough is accused of burglarizing the home and stealing two guns on the day they were discovered, Falcon said.

All three were arrested and transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center. Collier’s bail is set at $25,000. Scarbrough’s bail is set at $12,500. The juvenile was released to the custody of a guardian.
