Sheriff: Woman hit victim with beer bottle

A 35-year-old Morgan City woman was booked Thursday on a warrant after allegedly striking another woman in the head with a beer bottle during a February incident in Bayou Vista, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum said in a news release.

—Jennifer Bourgeois, 35, of Onstead Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:17 a.m. Thursday on a warrant charging her with aggravated battery.

In February, a deputy investigated a report of a battery that occurred at a business off La. 182 in Bayou Vista. The deputy found that Bourgeois struck another woman in the head with a beer bottle, causing a small cut to the victim’s head, Anslum said. The deputy obtained a warrant for Bourgeois’ arrest and located her at a home on Park Street in Patterson. Bourgeois was jailed with no bail set.

Anslum reported that deputies responded to 41 complaints and reported the following arrest in east St. Mary Parish:

—Malcolm Smith, 31, of Orange Street in Morgan City, was additionally charged at 10:33 a.m. Thursday on four warrants for failure to appear on various drug charges and theft. Smith was already incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center when a correctional deputy located the active warrants. No bail is set.

Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported that officers responded to 48 calls and reported the following arrests:

—Tylin S. Walker-Parish, 33, of Bayou Black Drive in Gibson, was arrested at 10:27 a.m. Thursday on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Patrol officers were investigating an unrelated matter at a motel in the area of La. 182 when they came in contact with Walker-Parish. Officers detected an odor of marijuana emitting out of Walker-Parish’s room, Blair said.

Walker-Parish was in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Walker-Parish was jailed.

—Bradley Griffin, 38, of Terrebonne Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:42 p.m. Thursday on charges of speeding 28 mph in a 15 mph zone, no driver’s license and resisting an officer.

Patrol officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed through a school zone area on Marguerite Street. A stop was initiated, and the driver fled on foot. Griffin was apprehended and identified as the driver, Blair said. Griffin did not have a valid driver’s license. Griffin was jailed.

—Micah Soileau, 20, of Joey Street in Patterson, was arrested at 4:05 a.m. Friday on a warrant charging him with three counts of failure to appear to pay a fine.

Soileau was located and arrested at the Patterson Police Department on a Morgan City Court warrant. Soileau was jailed.

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:

—Micah K. Soileau, 20, of Joey Street in Patterson, was arrested at 2:55 a.m. Friday on warrants for another jurisdiction. No bail was set yet.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
