Sheriff: Man caught with five different drugs in search

A 27-year-old Morgan City man was charged with possession of five different drugs after investigators searched a vehicle Thursday in Berwick, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.

—Freddie Sellers Jr., 27, of Keith Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:23 p.m. Thursday on charges of possession of marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine, Adderall, drug paraphernalia and Xanax.

Sheriff’s office narcotics detectives and Berwick police conducted an investigation into possible illegal drug activity at a home on Jones Street in Berwick. Deputies observed a vehicle leave the location and stopped the vehicle.

Detectives received consent to search Sellers, a passenger in the vehicle, and located a bag of cocaine, pills, and a bag of marijuana, Hebert said. Detectives also found two bags of methamphetamine where Sellers was seated in the vehicle. Following the investigation, Sellers was jailed with no bail set.

Hebert reported responding to 42 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrest in east St. Mary Parish:

—Chelsey Falgout, 22, of Sebby’s Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:11 p.m. Thursday on a charge of domestic abuse battery-child endangerment law.

Deputies responded to a report of a battery at a home in Bayou Vista. While speaking with the subjects involved, deputies found evidence that Falgout struck a male victim during an argument, Hebert said. Falgout and the victim were each holding a child at the time of the battery, the sheriff said. Falgout was jailed with no bail set.

Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported responding to 39 calls and reported the following arrests:

—Kayla M. Fryou, 25, of Gen. Hodges Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:33 a.m. Friday on charges of DWI first offense and improper turning.

Patrol officers observed a vehicle being operated in the area of La. 182 negotiate an improper turn. A stop was initiated, and Fryou was identified as the operator of the vehicle. Fryou was found to be in an intoxicated state, Blair said.

Fryou performed poorly on a field sobriety test. At the city jail, Fryou submitted to a chemical test and registered 0.224 grams-percent blood alcohol content, the chief said. Fryou was jailed.

—Tommy D. Morgan, 27, of Belanger Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:45 a.m. Thursday on a warrant charging him with probation violation.

Morgan was transported from the Lafayette Parish Detention Center and arrested on a Morgan City Court warrant. Morgan was jailed.

—Teirra N. Gollmer, 19, of Field Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 3:45 p.m. Thursday on a charge of contempt of court.

While attending court proceedings, Gollmer allegedly caused a disturbance within the court room. Gollmer was held in contempt of court. Gollmer was jailed.

—Carlton P. Moncada, 58, of Karen Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:45 a.m. Friday on charges of disturbing the peace intoxicated and resisting an officer and on warrants charging him with possession of drug paraphernalia and improper turning.

Patrol officers responded to a business in the area of Victor II Boulevard in regard to a disturbance. Officers arrived, and Moncada was identified as a suspect. Moncada was found to be in an intoxicated state and continued to cause a disturbance and use profanities in the presence of the officers, Blair said.

Moncada was placed under arrest, and he began to resist officers while they were taking him into custody, Blair said.

Moncada also had warrants for his arrest stemming from an investigation where a vehicle being operated by Moncada was seen negotiating an improper turn in the area of Fifth Street, Blair said.

A stop was initiated and Moncada was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, Blair said. The investigation continued and warrants were prepared for Moncada’s arrest. Moncada was jailed.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:

—Joni Madison, 37, of Jones Street in Berwick, was arrested at 7:34 p.m. Thursday on a Morgan City police warrant charging her with possession of Schedule II drugs with intent to distribute, open container and no turn signal and a Berwick police charge for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
