Police: Two adults, juvenile arrested on drug charges in traffic stop

Drive fled scene on foot, police say

The driver of a vehicle is still at large after police detained passengers during a traffic stop.

According to Morgan City Police Chief James Blair, Quandon Favors, 29, of Jones Street in Berwick, and Lawrence Garrett, 21, of Florida Street in Morgan City, were arrested at 11:19 p.m. Wednesday on possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles.

Blair said patrol officers conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle being operated in the area of Fifth Street that failed to stop at a stop sign. A woman who was operating the vehicle fled the scene on foot, police said. Favors, Garrett and a juvenile were located as occupants of the vehicle.

According to Blair, Favors, Garrett and the juvenile were found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. All three subjects were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where Favors and Garrett were jailed. The juvenile was released to a guardian. The investigation is ongoing in regard to the operator of the vehicle.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests regarding east St. Mary Parish

—Todd Martin, 52, of Rose Lane in Centerville, was arrested at 10:25 a.m. Wednesday for no license plate, no driver’s license on person, and no motor vehicle insurance. Hebert said a deputy conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle traveling on La. 182 in Centerville with no visible license plate. The deputy found that the driver, Martin, did not have a driver’s license with him and that the vehicle he was driving did not have insurance. Martin was released on a summons to appear in court Oct. 11.

—Tanya Authement, 45, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:04 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. A deputy located Authement at her residence. Authement was jailed with no bail set.

—Bryan Wright, 43, of Ponderosa Lane in Gray, was arrested at 5:07 p.m. Wednesday for violation of a protective order and on two warrants for failure to comply with terms and conditions of probation. A deputy investigating a complaint at a residence in Patterson came into contact with Wright. Hebert said the deputy found evidence that Wright threatened a female victim by telephone in violation of a court order. The deputy also located the active warrants for his arrest. Wright was jailed with no bail set.

—Amanda Lacoste, 33, of Enterprise Avenue in Patterson, was arrested at 8:01 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for simple battery. Hebert said a deputy responded to a report of a battery outside of a business in Bayou Vista in June. The deputy collected evidence that Lacoste struck a woman. A warrant was issued for Lacoste’s arrest. A deputy located Lacoste at her residence. Lacoste was jailed and released on $2,500 bail.

—Seth Martin, 25, of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 8:28 p.m. Wednesday for possession of marijuana and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of domestic abuse battery. Hebert said that while investigating a separate complaint in Baldwin, a deputy spoke with Martin and located the active warrant for his arrest. While searching Martin, the deputy located a burnt marijuana cigarette in his pocket. Martin was jailed with no bail set.

Blair reported the following arrests:

—William S. Deans Sr., 39, of Roselawn Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:35 p.m. Wednesday on two warrants for violation of protective orders and a warrant for telephone harassment.

Deans was located and arrested at Morgan City Court on active warrants held by the Morgan City Police. Blair said the warrants are from two separate incidents on July 15 and 17. According to Blair, the victims alleged that Deans sent threating messages via telephone. Before both incidents, a protective order was in effect. Evidence was uncovered that corroborated the allegations. Warrants were prepared for Deans’ arrest. Deans was transported to Morgan City Jail with no bail set.

—Germany Broussard, 37, of Leona Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:24 p.m. Wednesday for disturbing the peace.

Patrol officers responded to a residence in the area of Leona Street in regard to a disturbance. According to Blair, officers arrived and Broussard was identified as a suspect involved in the disturbance. During the investigation, Broussard continuously continued to yell and use profanities. Broussard was jailed.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
