Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrest:
Lakeisha Clay, 36, of Field Street, New Iberia, was arrested Friday at 3:03 a.m. on a warrant for 16th Judicial District Court for failure to appear on the charge of careless operation of a motor vehicle and a warrant for Lafayette City Court for the charge of issuing worthless checks. Clay was booked, processed, and held on a $1,500 bond.
Malik Byers, 20, of Tupelo Street, Franklin, was arrested Friday at 12:17 p.m. on a warrant charging him with simple battery and was released on $2,500 bond.
Morris Thibeaux, 60, of Franklin, was arrested Friday at 8:04 p.m. on charges of disturbing the peace intoxicated and remaining where forbidden. No bond was set.
David Kinchen III, 20, of Willow Street, Frnaklin, was arrested Friday at 11:51 p.m. on a district court warrant for failure to appear for arraignment on traffic charges. He was released on $350 bond.
Sharon Gauthier, 57, of Main Street, Franklin, was arrested Monday at 9:16 p.m. on charges of possession of marijuana and criminal mischief. She was held on $2,500 bond.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
Jondre Wesley, 34, of 1106 Wilford St., Franklin, was arrested Thursday at 1:47 p.m. on the charge of armed robbery. A deputy responded to a report of a robbery at a residence on Ibert Street in Franklin. Through investigation, the suspect was identified as Wesley. The deputy located Wesley at his residence and found evidence that he struck the male victim in the head with a wooden chair before taking approximately $150 in cash and his cell phone. Wesley and the victim knew each other. The crime is suspected to be the result of a disagreement. The deputy recovered the phone from the backyard of Wesley’s residence. Wesley was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
Kane Smith, 18, Morgan City, already incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on primary charges, was additionally charged Friday at 2:00 p.m. on a warrant for the charge of illegal possession of stolen property. On February 11, 2017, a deputy recovered a firearm from Smith’s possession during a traffic stop investigation in Berwick. A Sheriff’s Office detective working in collaboration with a Morgan City Police detective obtained information that the recovered handgun had been stolen out of a vehicle at a residence in Morgan City. A warrant was then issued for the additional charge against Smith. No bail is set.
Damian Menard, 36, of 103 Hershey Court, Broussard, was arrested Thursday at 4:54 p.m. on charges of speeding and operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. A deputy working to enforce traffic safety on US 90 in Berwick observed a vehicle moving at 70 miles per hour in a posted 45 miles per hour zone. The deputy conducted a traffic stop. While speaking with the driver, Menard, the deputy found that his license was suspended. Menard was released on a summons.
Manidrell Smith, 35, of 1723 Gabriel St., Patterson, was arrested Friday at 1:39 a.m. on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of simple battery. Deputies were conducting an unrelated investigation in the area when they spoke with Smith who was sitting outside of his residence. A deputy located the active warrant for his arrest. Smith was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $500.
Elliot Maturin, 52, of 1003 Shelton Avenue, New Iberia, was arrested Friday at 5:04 a.m. on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of angling without a license. A deputy spoke with Maturin while assisting Baldwin Police with a call for service on Lockley Drive and located the active warrant for his arrest. Maturin was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
Troy Perez, 52, of 301 Saturn Road, Bayou Vista, was arrested Thursday at 4:15 p.m. on charges of possession of Schedule II methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule I marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law drug free zone, warrant for possession of Schedule I marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia and warrant for possession of Schedule II methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule I marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule IV clonazepam with intent to distribute, distribution of Schedule IV clonazepam, possession of Schedule II hydrocodone and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Narcotics detectives executed a search warrant at Perez’s address and found methamphetamine, marijuana, syringes used to inject methamphetamine and other items associated with the use of the illegal drug. Perez’s residence is located within 2,000 feet of a church. The warrants were the result of 2 other investigations by narcotics detectives into illegal drug activity that also took place at Perez’s residence. Perez was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
David Lodrigue, 37, of 135 Andres St., Morgan City, was arrested Thursday at 6:31 p.m. on charges of failure to signal 100 feet prior to an intersection, improper lane usage, possession of Schedule I marijuana and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor.
Tarell Boulanger, 26, of 1002 Washington St., Patterson, was arrested Thursday at 6:31 p.m. on charges of possession of Schedule I marijuana, obstruction of justice, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor.
Narcotics detectives were patrolling Bayou Vista when they observed a vehicle fail to properly signal a turn at the intersection of Southeast Boulevard and La. 182. Detectives then observed the vehicle cross the fog line, and they conducted a traffic stop near Riverview Drive east of Teche Rd. Detectives spoke with the occupants of the vehicle. They were the driver- Lodrigue, passenger- Boulanger and three juveniles. Detectives smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the pick-up truck. They received consent to search Lodrigue and found a partially burnt marijuana cigar in one of his pockets. During the drug investigation, Boulanger repeatedly denied being in possession of any illegal drugs. Detectives located a bag of marijuana hidden on his person. Boulanger was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Lodrigue was released on a summons.
Jeffery Lofton, 52, of 346 California St., Thibodaux, was arrested Friday at 7:59 a.m. on a Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to appear. A St. Mary Parish deputy received information from a Lafourche Parish deputy regarding the active warrant for Lofton’s arrest and his whereabouts. Lofton was located walking on La. 182 in Amelia. He was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. He was later transferred to the Lafourche Parish jail.
Brionne Bogen, 21, of 320 Charlotte Drive, Patterson, was arrested Friday at 3:52 p.m. for stop sign violation and operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista observed a vehicle fail to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Delmar Avenue and Southeast Boulevard. The deputy conducted a traffic stop, spoke with the driver, Bogen, and found that her license was suspended. Bogen was released on a summons.
Kevin Theriot, 46, of 2517 Weco Town Road, New Iberia, was arrested Saturday at 1:45 a.m. on the charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. A deputy responding to a hit and run that occurred in Charenton located the suspect vehicle on La. 182 in Baldwin and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver who was identified as Theriot. While speaking with him, the deputy smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and person. The deputy conducted a standardized field sobriety test. Theriot performed the test poorly. He was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Theriot was released on a $2,500 bond.
Jeffery Carbajal, 20, of 1202 Spruce Street, Morgan City, was arrested Saturday at 4:07 a.m. on charges of careless operation, no driver’s license, hit and run driving and failure to report an accident.
A deputy investigating a single vehicle crash at the intersection of Lake Palourde Road and Barrow Street located Carbajal walking away from the scene. When deputies spoke to Carbajal about the crash, he denied knowledge of the incident. Through investigation, the deputy found evidence that Carbajal was driving the car at the time of the crash. Carbajal was released on a summons.
Tiffany Simmons, 34, of 100 Gates Drive, Franklin, was arrested Saturday at 10:05 p.m. on the charge of possession of Schedule I marijuana. A deputy conducting a traffic stop on La. 83 in Baldwin spoke with a passenger in the vehicle identified as Simmons. The deputy smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. During the investigation, the deputy located marijuana on Simmons’ person and in her purse. Simmons was released on a summons.
Khuong Nguyen, 30, of 3495 La. 182 E, Berwick, was arrested Saturday at 10:42 p.m. on the charge of theft of goods. A deputy was responding to a report of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy spoke with store security personnel and learned that Nguyen was seen concealing items in his clothing before attempting to leave the business without paying for the goods. Nguyen was released on a summons.
Jarrett Francis, 28, of 145 Racetrack Lane, Rayne, was arrested Sunday at 9:25 p.m. on charges of proper equipment required on vehicles and operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. A deputy enforcing traffic safety on La. 83 in Baldwin observed a vehicle without a working license plate light. The deputy conducted a traffic stop, spoke with Francis, the driver, and found that his license was suspended. Francis was released on a summons.
Sharon Gauthier, 57, of 914 Main Street, Franklin, was arrested Sunday at 1:59 a.m. on charges of disturbing the peace offensive language, resisting an officer and two counts of public intimidation and retaliation. A deputy responded to a report of a disturbance at a business on La. 182 in Jeanerette. The deputy made contact with Gauthier who was yelling and cursing outside of the business. Gauthier refused to leave. As the deputy escorted her to the police unit, she repeatedly attempted to pull away and made threats to the deputy. Gauthier was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. While being escorted inside, Gauthier made verbal threats to a correctional officer. Gauthier was transported to the Morgan City Police Department jail for housing and later released on a $4,500 bond.
Keanan Gauthier, 18, of 109 Nikki Lane, Baldwin, was arrested Sunday at 6:26 p.m. on charges of possession of Schedule I marijuana. A deputy investigating a single vehicle crash on La. 3215 identified the driver as Gauthier. The deputy observed a small amount of marijuana by Gauthier’s feet while speaking with him. Gauthier admitted to the deputy that the marijuana was his. The deputy released Gauthier on a summons.
John Banks, 44, of 112 Sorrell Lane #1, Jeanerette, was arrested Monday at 10:49 p.m. on charges of speeding and operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. A deputy patrolling Four Corners observed a vehicle speeding 36 miles per hour in a posted 25 miles per hour zone on Big Four Corners Road. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke with Banks who was driving the vehicle. The deputy found that Banks was driving under suspension. Banks was released on a summons.
Kelly Hamilton, 34, of 7257 La. 182 E, Morgan City, was arrested Monday at 9:42 p.m. on the charge of speeding and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, speeding and failure to honor written promise to appear. While investigating a separate complaint in Amelia, a deputy came into contact with Hamilton and located the active warrant for her arrest. Hamilton was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $365.
Tronoski Thomas, 27, of 528 Fuselier Street, Eunice, was arrested Friday at 9:10 p.m. for possession of Schedule I marijuana. Narcotics detectives in Morgan City observed Thomas smoking a marijuana cigarette while walking on Front Street near Brashear Avenue. Detectives stopped him, recovered the marijuana, and subsequently transported Thomas to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.
