Police Reports 2-5-18

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum reported the following arrests:
Hodges Matthews, 39, of 178 Friendship Alley, Amelia, was arrested Thursday at 11:23 a.m. on a warrant for the charge of threatening a public official.
On Jan. 17, Hodges made verbal threats to a deputy who was transporting him to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. The deputy obtained a warrant for his arrest. Narcotics detectives located Matthews at a residence in Amelia, on the warrant. Matthews was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
Crystal Bourgeois, 35, of 96 Lee St., Franklin, was arrested Thursday at 11:52 a.m. on two warrants for failure to appear for drug court. Bourgeois was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $200,000.
Juvenile male, 16, of Centerville, was arrested Thursday at 8:49 p.m. on charges of simple battery of persons with infirmities and domestic abuse battery.
A deputy responded to a call for service regarding a disturbance in progress at a residence in Centerville. The deputy found evidence that the juvenile pushed a female victim causing her to fall to the ground. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
Esther Anslum, 24, of 145 Higgins Lane, Jeanerette, was arrested Thursday at 1:01 p.m. on the charge of violation of the parish pit bull ordinance.
A deputy responded to a call for service regarding a pit bull dog on the loose in a neighborhood in Jeanerette. The deputy located the animal at the owner’s residence. During the investigation, the deputy collected evidence that Anslum was in violation of the parish ordinance governing the keeping of pit bull dogs. Anslum was released on a summons.
Susan Price, 58, of 118 Sunrise Court, Houma, was arrested Friday at 11:51 p.m. on charges of stop signs and yield signs violation and operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.
A deputy patrolling Vermillion Bay Lane in Cypremort Point observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Price. During the investigation, the deputy found that Price was driving with a license that was suspended. Price was released on a summons.
Lynn Lovell, Jr., 44 of 607 C Hamm St., Franklin, was arrested Thursday at 4:03 p.m. on charges of brake lights required, possession of Schedule II methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule I marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Joaquima Brown, 23, of 402 Martin Luther King, Franklin, was arrested Thursday at 4:01 p.m. on the charge of possession of Schedule I marijuana.
Narcotics detectives patrolling Franklin observed a vehicle with no functioning brake lights and conducted a traffic stop on O’Neal Chube Street. Detectives identified the driver as Lovell and a passenger as Brown. While speaking with the occupants, detectives smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the car. After receiving consent to search, detectives found methamphetamine and marijuana on Lovell and marijuana on Brown. Detectives then conducted a search of the car and located marijuana, a marijuana cigarette, and a glass pipe used for smoking methamphetamine. Lovell was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $100,250. Brown was released on a summons.
Derrick Lovely, 41, of 219 Southeast Blvd., Bayou Vista, was arrested Thursday at 6:55 p.m. on charges of turning movements and required signals violation, two counts resisting an officer with violence, obstruction of justice, stop signs and yield signs violation, driving on roadway laned for traffic violation improper lane usage and driver’s license required.
Narcotics detectives patrolling Bayou Vista saw Lovely driving a vehicle on Southeast Blvd. Detectives knew Lovely did not have a license to drive. They also observed that he failed to signal several turns. Detectives initiated a traffic stop. Lovely refused to pull over and continued to drive into a parking lot off Anthony Street and onto US 90 nearly crashing into another vehicle. Lovely was forced to stop because of traffic in the area. A detective then observed Lovely place a bag of suspected illegal drugs in his mouth. Detectives ordered Lovely to exit the vehicle multiple times. Lovely refused. Detectives then removed Lovely from the vehicle. Lovely then attempted to forcefully pull away from detectives before being detained. Following the investigation, Lovely was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
Gaius Austin, 29, of 558 Prairie Road North, Franklin, was arrested Friday at 5:35 p.m. on charges of stop signs and yield signs violation, operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, speeding, operating a vehicle with an expired license plate and failure to honor written promise to appear and a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, careless operation of a motor vehicle, no child restraint and failure to honor written promise to appear.
A deputy patrolling in the Franklin area observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign on Willow Street and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy identified the driver as Austin and found that he was driving with a suspended license. The deputy also located active warrants for his arrest. Austin was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Austin was released on a $2,020 bond.
Donald Brown Jr., 34, of 2500 Chatsworth Road, Franklin, was arrested Saturday at 8:54 p.m. on a warrant for charges of disturbing the peace and simple battery. On Jan. 5, deputies responded to a call for service in Amelia in reference to a suspicious subject. When deputies arrived on South Verret Street they observed Brown to be in an excited state and attempted to keep him calm until Acadian Ambulance arrived. While speaking with Brown, deputies learned that he had been smoking synthetic cannabinoids. Brown continually yelled at deputies and first responders causing a disturbance in the neighborhood. Prior to being transported to the hospital, Brown grabbed a first responder and pushed him. Deputies obtained a warrant for his arrest. On Saturday, a deputy located Brown on Second Street in Amelia on the warrant and transported him to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Brown was released on a $1,000 bond.
Rachel Knight, 32, of 1802 O St. Lot 1, Patterson, was arrested Saturday at 7:54 a.m. on a warrant for charges of defamation and cyberstalking.
In August, a deputy conducted an investigation into a report of harassment. The deputy collected evidence that a video of a female victim engaged in a sex act was posted on social media by Knight. The deputy obtained a warrant for Knight’s arrest. On Saturday, a deputy located Knight at her residence on the warrant. Knight was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Knight was released on a $1,500 bond.
Carl Joseph Sr., 58, of 183 Roy’s Lane, Verdunville, was arrested Saturday at 7:19 p.m. on the charge of domestic abuse battery child endangerment law.
A deputy responded to a call for service regarding a domestic battery at a residence in Verdunville. The deputy found evidence that Joseph grabbed and pushed a female victim. The battery occurred in the presence of a minor. The deputy transported Joseph to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Joseph was released on a $3,500 bond.
Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrest:
Donald Engleton, 56, of Main Street, Franklin, was arrested Friday at 12:47 a.m. on a warrant for Morgan City City Court for failure to appear on the charge of contempt of court - two counts. Engleton was booked, processed, and transported to Morgan City Police Department.
Tonya Finister, 31, of Gilbeau Road, Lafayette, was arrested Friday at 5:57 p.m. on the charge of domestic abuse battery. Finister was booked, processed, and released on a $2,500 bond.
Emilie Elkins, 25, of Gilbeau Road, Lafayette, was arrested Friday at 5:57 p.m. on the charge of domestic abuse battery. Elkins was booked, processed, and released on a $2,500 bond.
Kentroy Lewis, 26, of Ibert Street, Franklin, was arrested Friday at 7:03 p.m. on a warrant for the charge of simple battery and a warrant for the charge of second degree battery. Lewis was booked, processed, and held with no bond set at the time of press release.
Floyd Polidore Sr., 54, of Third Street, Franklin, was arrested Sunday at 3:20 p.m. on the charge of simple battery. Polidore was booked, processed, and released on a $2,500 bond.
Willie Clark Jr., 59, of Baronne Street, Baldwin, was arrested Sunday at 11:44 p.m. on the charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated - 1st offense. Clark was booked, processed, and released on a $2,000 bond.
Karis Smith, 24, of La. 182, Jeanerette, was arrested Monday at 2:52 a.m. on a warrant for Jeanerette City Court for failure to appear on the charge of speeding. Smith was booked, processed, and transported to Jeanerette Police Department.
Tajh Guilbeau, 27, of Easy Street, Franklin, was arrested Monday at 3:12 p.m. on the charge of aggravated assault with a firearm. Guilbeau was booked, processed, and held with no bond set at the time of press release.
Tansia Barto, 18, of Robertson Street, Franklin, was arrested Monday at 12:53 a.m. on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of Schedule I narcotics marijuana. Barto was booked, processed, and held on a $3,500 bond.
Shaterra Randle, 21, of Old Spanish Trail, New Iberia, was arrested Monday at 12:53 a.m. on charges of possession of Schedule I narcotics marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Randle was booked, processed, and held on a $3,500 bond.
