VERNON “CHIPS” BELL
July 10, 1946 - October 4, 2018
Vernon C. J. Bell, affectionately known as Chips, passed away at the age of 72, on Thursday, October 4, 2018. A native and lifelong resident of Franklin, Chips was born on July 10, 1946, one of seven siblings. He was a simple man who lived a simple life and had a love of the outdoors.
His memory will live on in the hearts of his three children, Michael M. Bell and his wife Tyler, Cherie Bell Prejean and her husband Wayne, and Bart C. J. Bell; two granddaughters, Hannah and Abby Prejean; his fiancée, Cindy Hebert and her children, Lindsay Robichaux and her husband Corey, and Scott Hebert and his wife Amanda, and her grandchildren, Johnathan and Elliott; six siblings, Edward Bell and his wife Veeder, Philip Bell, Missy B. Dubois and her husband Richard, Roye B. Pontiff and her husband Kirk, Robert Bell and his wife Sherrie, Gigi B. Dossey and her husband Robert; his former wife, Karlene Nolan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Matthew Bell and Elizabeth “Kena” Aycock Bell.
In keeping with Chips’ wishes, he was cremated with no formal services to be held. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to his caregiver, Laurie LeJeune, Dr. Mark Charbonnet and his staff, and to his dear friends, Mike and Suzanne Chauvin for their loving and compassionate care given to Chips.

ALICE PRINCE BELTON
June 19, 1930 - October 6, 2018
Funeral services celebrating the life of Alice Prince Belton will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Franklin, with Rev. Sue Pugh officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Franklin Cemetery Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, October 8, 2018, at Ibert’s Mortuary from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., and will resume Tuesday morning at the church at 9 a.m.
Alice was born on June 19, 1930, one of four children born to the late Vital “Chunk” Prince and the late Aline Legnon Prince, and passed away at the age of 88 on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at the Franklin Health Care Center. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved her family dearly and was a dedicated employee at many local businesses in West St. Mary Parish. In her early years, Alice worked at Blevins Motors, riding a Greyhound Bus from her home in Louisa and then back home after work, day in and day out. She met the love of her life, Joe Belton, and on December 13, 1963 at the First United Methodist Church in Franklin, the two married. They lived in Franklin briefly until starting a family and moving to Baldwin, where they have resided ever since. Many will remember her from her many years working as a clerk at the Baldwin Drug Store. Alice was also very active in her faith. She especially loved working with children, teaching Sunday School, helping with Vacation Bible School, as well as taking care of children in daycare at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. She had a love of flowers and enjoyed spending time growing and tending to her flower garden. She was also a great cook. She loved cooking for and entertaining family and friends and looked forward to her afternoon “Coffee Club” with her siblings and anyone else that stopped by. Her life will truly live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her husband of 55 years, Joe P. Belton Sr.; her daughter, Allyson B. Billodeau and her husband Charlie; her son, Joe P. “Joey” Belton Jr. and his wife Claire; one granddaughter, Erica P. Guiberteau and her husband Jude; two sisters, Marie P. Broussard and Betty P. Rodriguez and her husband Daniel; her brother-in-law, David Belton and his wife Molly; her godchild, Micah Rodriguez; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Percy and Martha Prince; her brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Broussard; and two sisters-in-law, Delle B. Horton and Shirley B. Wallace.
Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel, Micah, Brad, and Gerard Rodriguez, Kirt Prince, and Jude Guiberteau. Honorary pallbearer will be Charlie Billodeau.
The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to Dr. Roland Degeyter and staff as well as to the staff of Franklin Health Care Center for the loving and compassionate care given to Alice.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Heart of Hospice, 14777 Hwy 90 West Frontage Road, Franklin, La. 70538.
