Police: Man caught with items taken in burglaries

A 33-year-old Morgan City man was charged Monday in connection with burglaries in the Lakeside Subdivision area, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.

Trimm, 33, of Patton Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:53 p.m. Monday on warrants charging him with possession of stolen things $1,000 to $5,000, possession of marijuana, violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law, transactions involving proceeds from controlled dangerous substance activity and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Trimm was located and arrested at the Calcasieu Parish Detention Center on active arrest warrants held by the Morgan City police. The warrants stem from a June 21 investigation in connection with recent vehicle burglaries in the Lakeside Subdivision area. Police learned that Trimm was in possession of some of the stolen property taken during those burglaries, Blair said.

A search warrant was secured for Trimm’s home when investigators located the stolen property. Investigators also located suspected marijuana, drug paraphernalia and money believed derived from illicit sales.

The area where the incident had taken place was within a drug-free zone. The investigation continued when warrants were prepared for Trimm’s arrest. Trimm was jailed.
