Man charged with driving under suspension

A 28-year-old Bayou Vista man was charged with driving under suspension after deputies observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in Glencoe, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum said in a news release.

—Jarred Gaudet, 28, of Ranger Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 2:03 p.m. Monday on a charge of driving under suspension.

A deputy patrolling Glencoe observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on La. 83. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and located the driver, Gaudet. The deputy learned that Gaudet was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. Gaudet was released on a summons to appear in court Sept. 4.

Anslum reported that deputies responded to 38 complaints and reported the following arrests:

—Tanner Theriot, 18, of Stephensville Road in Stephensville, was arrested at 12:45 p.m. Monday on charges of driving under suspension and following too close.

A deputy patrolling Amelia responded to a crash on Lake Palourde Road near Friendship Alley. The deputy located a driver, Theriot, and found evidence that he rear-ended a vehicle due to following closely, Anslum said. The deputy also learned that Theriot was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. Theriot was released on a summons to appear in court Sept. 4.

Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported that officers responded to 38 calls and reported no arrests.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.

Patterson Police Chief Janis Merritt reported no arrests.
