Raymond Ross

Man, 19, accused of committing battery on 65-year-old woman

A 19-year-old man committed a battery on a 65-year-old woman in Morgan City and also damaged her property and made threatening calls to her, Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.

—Raymond Ross, 19, of Willow Street in Franklin, was arrested at 4:35 p.m. Wednesday on warrants charging him with simple battery on the infirm, criminal damage to property and telephone harassment.

Ross was transported from the Franklin Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department on warrants.

The warrants stem from a Nov. 2 incident during which Ross allegedly committed a battery on a 65-year-old woman and damaged her property. Ross also is alleged to have made several calls to the victim. Ross was jailed.

Blair reported that officers responded to 42 calls and reported the following arrests:

—Ashley Bourgeois, 32, of Patterson, was arrested at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday on charges of disturbing the peace by using offensive language and possession of marijuana.

Officers responded to a business on Federal Avenue in regard to an individual causing a disturbance. When officers arrived, Bourgeois was identified as the individual causing the disturbance. Officers located Bourgeois who was yelling and using profanities, Blair said. Bourgeois was asked to calm down several times but refused. Officers also located suspected marijuana in Bourgeois’ possession. Bourgeois was jailed.

—Nathaniel L. Wicks, 20, of 79 Pines Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday on warrants charging him with probation violation and two counts of failure to pay fines.

Wicks was transported from the Patterson Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department on Morgan City Court warrants. Wicks was jailed.

—Kelsey Francois, 23, of Orange Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:03 p.m. Wednesday on charges of window tint violation, no insurance and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and on a warrant charging her with disturbing the peace.

Officers were in the area of Federal Avenue and Egle Street in regard to a possible disturbance. While in the area, officers observed a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and the driver was identified as Francois, who had a warrant for her arrest. The vehicle did not have valid insurance.

Officers also located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle, Blair said. Francois was jailed.

—Megan R. Gaudet, 27, of Parro Lane in Berwick, was arrested at 11:07 p.m. Wednesday on warrants charging her with failure to appear for trial and contempt of court. Gaudet was arrested at the police department on a city court warrant. Gaudet was jailed.

—Gerian E. Lightfoot, 27, of Willow Street in Franklin, was arrested at 2:38 a.m. Thursday on a charge of possession of marijuana.

Officers responded to a motel on La. 182 in regard to possible illegal drug activity in the area. Police located an individual identified as Lightfoot. Officers located suspected marijuana in Lightfoot’s possession, Blair said. Lightfoot was jailed.

—Claude M. Charlot, 25, of Leonard Street in Patterson, was arrested at 5 a.m. Thursday on a warrant charging him with resisting an officer by giving false information.

Charlot was placed under arrest at the Morgan City Police Department for an active warrant he held for the department. Charlot was booked and incarcerated.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum reported that deputies responded to 37 complaints and reported the following arrests:

—Elizabeth Jones, 55, of Felterman Street in Patterson, was arrested at 2:53 p.m. Wednesday on three warrants for failure to appear on the charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, hit-and-run driving, careless operation of a motor vehicle and two counts of disturbing the peace while intoxicated.

A deputy went to a home on Felterman Street in reference to an active warrant for Jones. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with Jones and advised her of the warrant. Jones was booked into jail and then released on personal surety bail.

—Constance Bertrand, 30, of Fifth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 5:31 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.

A corrections deputy made contact with Bertrand when she was turned in on a bail forfeiture at parish jail. Bertrand was jailed with no bail set.

Franklin Police Chief Tina Thibodeaux reported the following arrest relating to east St. Mary Parish:

—Nicholas Breaux, 40, of Morgan City, was arrested at 1:18 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of theft of goods. Breaux was additionally arrested on Morgan City Court warrants for failure to appear on charges of criminal trespassing, no driver’s license, disturbing the peace and contempt of court. Breaux was jailed with no bail set yet.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.

Patterson Police Chief Janis Merritt reported no arrests.
