TIM CHERAMIE

A Celebration of Life will be held this Saturday, July 08, 2023, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Morgan City, LA, for Tim Cheramie, 79, of Berwick, LA. A Rosary will be prayed by The Catholic Daughters of the Americas at 9:30 AM.

A brief eulogy by his daughter, Dr. Tammy Cheramie, will follow at 9:45 AM. The Memorial Mass will begin at 10:00 AM with Fr. Michael Russo as the main celebrant.

Tim was born on March 8, 1944, in Morgan City, LA. He died on April 17, 2023, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, LA. His parents were Mildred Gros Cheramie from Morgan City, LA, and Leon Cheramie, Sr., from
Golden Meadow, LA.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, his only sibling, Ponce Cheramie, and his first wife (and mother of his only child), Diane Lipari Cheramie.

Tim is survived by his daughter, Dr. Tammy Cheramie of Thibodaux, LA, and his widow Clare Cheramie of Berwick.

Tim loved to travel with his family and learn about new cultures. He cooked the best lasagna and white beans. He owned successful businesses and developed a subdivision with his first wife, Diane, and her family. He raised doves and parrots. He rode a rim walker mule to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. He built gazebos and wooden shrine boxes, grew flower and vegetable gardens, planted fig trees, and could whistle the song of almost any bird in near perfect pitch. He loved to make people laugh and had the sharpest wit around. Tim loved his friends, family, and life. He was quick to help stranger and friend alike with the stranger often becoming a friend in the process. He enjoyed auto racing; baseball; a good action movie; US, Southern, and LA history; and nature documentaries. He was a lifelong band and theater kid in every way possible. He enjoyed classical orchestra, jazz, 1950’s rock and roll, Broadway musicals, and Janis Joplin’s blues. He proudly served the USA as a member of the Louisiana National Guard. He adored being of LA French and Native American heritage.

Tim loved fiercely. He lived without abandon. He respected nature and conserved it throughout his life. He was a man of God. He believed in good. His eyes sparkled. He wore out in the best ways possible the “one wild and precious life” given to him.

All who truly loved Tim and were truly loved by him are blessed to have been part of his world. He is already so much and forever will be missed.
