Terry James Blanchard

January 16, 1934 — June 11, 2021
It is with great sadness that the family of Terry James Blanchard announces his peaceful passing on Friday, June 11, 2021, at his home in Morgan City. Terry James was born on January 16, 1934 to Hebert Blanchard and Aline LaRose Blanchard. He was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and wife, Anita Adams Blanchard. He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Terry Teresa Blanchard and Lee Hover, Cheri Blanchard Guidry and Gene Guidry, and Mark James Blanchard and Jennifer Acosta Blanchard; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Terry James graduated from Morgan City High School and attended junior college for a brief time. He served in the military and was stationed in Landstohl, Germany until 1956.
He and Anita owned Terry’s Gulf Service Station on Hwy 90, and served their community for 45 years. He greeted everyone with his signature “hey friend!” He was an avid fisherman for pleasure and tournaments around the area. He took up golf later in his life and for a short time, managed the St. Mary’s Golf Country Club in Berwick. He and Anita truly enjoyed being involved with events, as well as everyone there.
Over the years, he was a very active member of the Morgan City community, having been associated with Kiwanis - as a past president, Chamber of Commerce, and Rotary. He stayed active physically and he loved sports.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 14, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation was held Monday, June 14, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. After Mass, Terry James was laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery Mausoleum.
