Funeral services for Tammy Marie Schexnayder will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin with Deacon Richard Picard conducting the service. Following she will be laid to rest with her father in the Franklin Cemetery Mausoleum. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Johnson Sr., Michael Johnson Jr., Dean LeBlanc Jr., Adam Picard Jr., Adam Picard III, and Alvin Picard Sr. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Granger and Donald James Picard.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Ibert’s Mortuary on Tuesday, October 16, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. Visitations will continue Wednesday at 8 a.m. until service time.
Tammy was born in Lafayette on December 16, 1967 and passed away at the age of 50 in the morning hours of Thursday, October 11, 2018, at her home with her family at her side. She was the younger of two daughters born to Larry James Schexnayder and Rita May Picard Schexnayder. She was a former longtime resident of Baldwin where she lived for most of her life and was a recent resident of St. Martinville. Some of her favorite pastimes were reading, playing computer and board games, working puzzles, and arts and crafts. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her mother, Rita May Picard Schexnayder; her sister, Rita Faye Schexnayder Johnson and her husband Michael Johnson Sr.; her niece, Michelle LeBlanc and her husband Dean LeBlanc Jr.; her nephew, Michael Johnson Jr. and his wife Michelle Johnson; two great nieces; MáKenzey and Brei Johnson; two great nephews, Logan and Dean LeBlanc III; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Larry James Schexnayder; great niece, Haily Johnson; great nephew, Joseph Duhon; paternal grandfather, Whitney Martin Schexnayder Sr.; paternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Noelie Oubre Hebert and Everaist Hebert; and maternal grandparents, Adam Picard Sr. and Evelyn Robicheaux Picard.
