REVEREND VERNELL ANTHONY JOHNSON

The Reverend Vernell Anthony Johnson, 53, a resident of Gray, La. and native of Houma, La., passed away on Friday September 10, 2021.
Visitation will be observed from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Jones Funeral Home chapel, 230 S. Hollywood Road, Houma, La., 70360. (All visitors are asked to adhere to the CDC-local regulations by wearing masks and practicing social distancing.) Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Gray.

Johnson; children, Lachell (Wayne) Meads, Latoya Nixon, Tajhaneka Woods, Shomarie (Charles) Darden, Vernell Perryman, Devion Lyons, Allen Woods all of Houma, La., Eunice Perryman of San Antonio, TX, Porsche’ (Regina) Darby of Gray, La. and Dontay Guidry of St. Francisville, La.; father, Walter Walton, Jr.; siblings, Michelle Walker, Sharon Perio, Cynthia (Alton) Newman, Tina Taylor, Latasha Moore, Shawanda Moore, Margaret Stokes, Monica Stokes, Kevin Johnson, Isaac Green, Gerald Butler, Ronald (Carla) Johnson, Donald (Viola) Johnson, Sam (Pam) Jackson, Germaine Johnson and Isaac Ricks; second mom, Judy A. Darby; twenty-seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Vernell was preceded in death by his parents, Betty Lee Jackson and Sam Moore; nephew, Bernard Johnson; aunts, Alzena Stewart and Yvonne Williams; grandparents, Thomas and Evella Johnson and a brother-in-law, Louis Walker.
