RENE VICTOR PRADO JR.

March 8, 1930 — July 10, 2022

On July 10, 2022, our Heavenly Father called Rene Victor Prado, Jr. to unite with his parents and siblings to share in all His glory.

Rene was born on March 8, 1930 in McAllen, Texas. He moved to Morgan City, La. in his teens and was well known for his talents and accolades on the Morgan
City High football team. He was a star on the team.

In 1951 he married Mary Ann Vidos, started a family, and he began his lifelong career in welding, becoming a foreman and then a well sought after inspector. His travels took him and his family across the U.S. building storage tanks as a welder. He learned his trade and excelled very quickly. From Morgan City to New Orleans, Brownsville, TX, Inverness, Scotland on the North Sea and back to Morgan City he thrived on the building of large oil rigs for our country.

Rene worked hard through the ups and downs of his life. He was a fighter and beat the odds that were thrown at him. He took care of his birth family, his family and raised a granddaughter. He is sadly missed.

Rene is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mary Ann (Vidos) Prado; two daughters, Patti Armstrong and Debra Percle; two sons, Randy Rene Prado, Sr. and Ricky Rene Prado; and several grandchildren. Rene loved all his family, but shared a special bond with his only male grandchild, Randy Rene Prado, Jr.

Rene was preceded in death by his parents, Rene Victor Prado, Sr. and Victoriana (Garza) Prado, his three brothers Robert Prado, Raul Prado and Marin Prado and one sister Melva (Prado) Martin.

All services will be private as Rene is now at peace and sharing in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. … Amen.
