Obituary: Lawrence 'Butch' Davis

Lawrence “Butch” Davis, 79, resident of Ricohoc, died peacefully at his residence Friday, July 17, 2026.
Butch is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Alice LaCoste Davis of Ricohoc; two children, Sharon Davis Hayes and her husband, Dale of Patterson, and Kenneth Davis of Lafayette, four grandchildren Dale Hayes, III of Gonzales, Katherine Hayes of Lafayette, Michael Hayes of Lafayette, and Jesse Hayes of Patterson, brother Philip Fanguy of Aston, Pennsylvania, and sister Darlene Fanguy of Morgan City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Mitchell, Kenneth, and Clifford Fanguy, and sister Charlotte Fanguy Foreman.
Butch was raised by his grandparents in hard times. Learning how to work at a very young age forged in him a strong, fearless character. He was a man of his word, dedicated to his family and hard work. In spite of his tough exterior, Butch had a big heart of gold. He helped many people privately expecting nothing in return. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. Being a born leader, he lived a big life full of accomplishments. He never shied away from a challenge. Butch loved the water and being outdoors. He enjoyed many trips to the beach with his family, where he was known to break a few rules at the go-cart track with his grandchildren.
His wish was to be privately mourned by his immediate family. He will be greatly missed by family and many life-long friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin and Patterson.
