MERRILL ELOISE LAMURY CAMPO

September 3, 1928 — July 24, 2022

Merrill Eloise Lamury Campo, 93, passed away July 24, 2022 at approximately 5:30 a.m. at Bayside Healthcare Nursing Facility in Gretna, Louisiana where she was a resident for the past ten years. She was a native and lifelong resident of Morgan City, Louisiana, born to Richard and Eloise Lamury on September 3, 1928, the fourth of five children.

Merrill Campo was a devoted wife to her husband of 51 years, Ray L. (Spud) Campo. She was a person of strong Christian faith, active in bible studies and widow support groups. She loved to dance, and she loved to sing praise and worship songs to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Most knew her for her very outgoing and gregarious personality, bright smile, love for her family, and willingness to help anyone in need as much as she was capable.

She is survived by her five children, Melanie O’Neill, Ray L. Campo, Jr. (Phyllis), Mark D. Campo (Gina), Lisa J. Campo-Hidalgo (Tom), and Don M. Campo. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jeri Wood, David Mire, Danielle Campo Sodal, Shawn Campo, and Ashley Campo Souza. She is further survived by great-grandchildren, Emily Faith McKay Berry, Aaron Peck, Kaylie Peck, Kobe Peck, Breyah Clark, Jordan Clark, Alayna Clark, Brylie Clark, Allison Clark, Ethan Mire and Brice Mire.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Lewis Campo, Sr., two grandchildren, Allison Mary Campo McKay and Colin Shea O’Neill. She was also preceded in death by four siblings, Shirley Lamury Gaudet, Virlie Lamury Listi, Audrey Lamury Pichon, and Richard “Dickey” Lamury.

Services for Merrill Eloise Lamury Campo were Wednesday, July 27 at Hargrave Funeral Home of Morgan City. Visitation was at 10 a.m. and services followed at 11:30 a.m. A traditional burial service continued at the municipal cemetery of Morgan City at Myrtle and Youngs Road.
