MELVIN JOSEPH VERRETT SR.
Melvin Joseph Verrett Sr., 90, a resident of Stephensville, Louisiana, passed away Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022 in Pierre Part.
He was born March 5, 1932, in Stephensville, the son of Lucien Verrett and Bernadette Aucoin Verrett.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bertha Fontenot Verrett of Stephensville; three children, Melvin Verrett Jr. and wife Gina Gros Verrett of Lafayette, Sandra Verrett Breaux and husband Nelson of Pierre Part, and Sherry Verrett Metrejean and husband Albert of Pierre Part; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Lisa Rena Verrett; five siblings, Eugene, Nelson, Wilson “Pete” and Ira Verrett, and Ruby St. Germain; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Breaux, Zachary Metrejean, Glenn Verrett, Christopher Verrett David DeSoto and Cody Watson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Tuesday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Francis Kayaye officiating. Visitation will be held at Twin City Funeral Home from 9 a.m.. until 11:30 a.m. After Mass, he will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery, where Military Honors will be rendered by the East St. Mary Funeral Squad.
