MARY LENA CUTRERA MORELLA

Funeral services for Mary Lena Cutrera Morella will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2019, during an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson. Following the Mass she will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. Father Herb Bennerfield will be the Celebrant for the Mass and conduct the services.
The family asks that visiting hours be observed Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the St. Joseph Church Hall. The Holy Rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m.
Mary Lena was born in Morgan City on October 2, 1927, the only daughter of four children born to Vincent and Mary Cutrera. A resident of Patterson for the past 70 years, Mary Lena passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 92 on Friday, October 4, 2019, surrounded in love by family.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family immensely. A devout Catholic, Mary Lena was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and had a deep devotion to our Blessed Mother. For 52 years she, along with her husband Sam, owned and operated the family business, Morella’s Clothing Store in Patterson. In addition to her love for her family and her faith, Mary Lena also had a love of dancing and tending to her flowers. She will truly be missed.
Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her three children, Joe Morella and his wife Debby, Vince Morella and his wife Sheree, and Nina Morella Harris and her husband Bill; four grandchildren, Jason Morella and his wife Susie, Drew Morella and his wife Jessica, Kelly Morella Gonzales and her husband Kase, and Dr. Vince Morella Jr. and his wife Dr. Erin Morella; nine great-grandchildren, Julia, Sarah, Anna, Jacob and Chase Morella, and Ella, Grace, Remi and Graydon Gonzales; one brother-in-law, Joe Morella and his wife Tonia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Blessed with a long life, she now takes her rest and is reunited with her beloved husband, Sam J. Morella; her parents, Vincent Charles Cutrera and Mary Guarisco Cutrera; three brothers, Lucien J. Cutrera and his wife Rosemary, Peter Cutrera and his wife Flavia, and Anthony J. Cutrera Sr. and his wife Garland; two brothers-in-law, Anthony Morella and his wife Marie and Dr. John R. Morella and his wife Charlene; and one sister-in-law, Sadie Morella Guarisco and her husband Pete.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Morella, Vince Morella, Bill Harris, Jason Morella, Dr. Vince Morella Jr., Kase Gonzales, John Morella Jr. and Charles Cutrera.
The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Journey Hospice, and especially her caregivers, Tempest Jackson, Tish Pailette, Chassidy Bailey, Lamarla Brown and Yvonne Hamilton. Your compassion will be forever appreciated.
