Mark Clyde Dixon, affectionately known as “Dixon” was born the first child of five children to Robert Bowser Sr. and Dolly Dixon on February 6, 1963, in Lafayette, La.
The story of Mark Clyde Dixon is simple but extraordinary. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Special Providence Baptist Church in Baldwin, La. “Dixon” was known for his warm personality and his unquestionable attention to detail. His outstanding and impeccable dance skills made him the center of attention at many social events.
“Dixon” received both his primary and secondary education in the St. Mary Parish School System. He graduated from Franklin Sr. High School in 1981 and continued his post-secondary education at Remington College in Lafayette, La. studying Business Administration. Through his educational journey he made many lasting friendships that carried into adulthood.
“Dixon” was no stranger to hard work. His professional pedigree included modeling and styling, decorating, and internet sales. As a licensed florist he took great pride in designing beautifully crafted floral displays for weddings, funerals, showers, parties and many other events. As an event planner he was exceptional at coordinating many events and always willing to go the extra mile to provide an unmatched level of service and décor to all of his clients.
“Dixon” was employed at MK DIXON Funeral Home as a Funeral Director Liaison. His role was a vital part of the MK Dixon Funeral Home Brand. He was noted for being the first to arrive and the last to leave, making sure the vision of MK Dixon Funeral Home was carried out with a spirit of excellence and love.
“Dixon,” a community activist, was affiliated with various community and social organizations. At the time of his transition he served as a board member on the St. Mary Community Action Agency Board of Directors and the Board Liaison to the St. Mary and Vermilion Parish Head Start Program Policy Council. As a founding member of the Krewe of Donnis in Baldwin, La.; he also served as Co-President. He was also a founding member of the Baldwin Beautification Committee.
On Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at the age of 54, he transitioned from the earthly plane to his heavenly home. “Dixon’s” story does not end here, for many memories will be spoken of for many generations to come.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Mary and Edwin Dixon; paternal grandparents: Robert Bowser Sr. and Alice and Mathew Colbert Sr.; aunts and uncles: Rosalie Connor, Berniece Burney, Cecile Dixon, Leroy Jenkins, Martha Bowser, Audrey Bowser, Zonia Williams, Oralita Montgomery, Mary Montgomery, Timothy Bowser, Matthew Colbert, Jr., Leroy Colbert and John Montgomery.
“Dixon’s” legacy will live on in the hearts of his family which includes his mother and father: Dolly Dixon and Robert Bowser, Jr. of Baldwin, La.; his fiancé, Detria Edmond of Charenton, La.; one daughter, Taylor Dixon of Charenton, La.; three sons: Solomon Freking of LeMar, La., Trevell Dixon of Baldwin, La., and Marquall Dixon (Kizzy) of Lafayette, La.; three grandchildren: Maddix Dixon, Briley Dixon, and Miesha Brooks; one brother, Michael Bowser (Kaye) of Baldwin, La.; three sisters: Cheryl Lynn Robinson (John) and Monica Wells (Gene) both of Franklin, La., and Tracy Jack (Vernon) of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by, one stepdaughter, Anissa Eugene, maternal and paternal aunts and uncles; Charlie Martin, Franklin, La.; Agnes Brown, Kansas City, KS; Mary (Henry) Martin, New Orleans, La.; Mary Jenkins, Baldwin, La.; Sherry Ann Martin, Baldwin, La.; Lillie Mary (Oliver) Sterling, Houston TX; Charles Ray (Phyllis) Colbert, San Antonio, TX; Irma Montgomery, Houston, TX; Dwight (Orelia) Bowser Sr., Houston, TX; Rebecca (Donald) Newman, Joseph (Lillian) Bowser Sr., James (Mary) Bowser, Cheryl (Ronnie) Shilo all of Beaumont, TX; four Godchildren: Tamaria Hawkins, Kimberly Charles and Akeem Jackson and Chazyman Harris; one Godsister, Chantel Conner-Allen, a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, all of whom he shared a unique bond with.
