LUTHER 'CLYDE' SMITH

March 18, 1936 — October 6, 2023

Luther “Clyde” Smith, who was 87 years young, passed away surrounded by his loving family in Denver, Colorado, on October 6, 2023. He was born on March 18, 1936, to the late L.C. and Mary Bertha Smith in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Clyde retired after 35 years of service from the Colorado Division of Wildlife as their Chief Civil Engineer and currently holds a position on the Board of Commissioners for St. Mary Levee District. Clyde enjoyed traveling, fishing, and playing golf. He once made a hole-in-1 at a Michael Jordan golf tournament and won a Jaguar.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Etta Pellerin Smith; one daughter, Monique Smith; two grandchildren, Ananda Smith and Ashton Smith; sister-in-law, Blanche Pellerin; nieces and nephews, Kevin Thompson, Kenny Thompson, Michael Harrison, Temika Harrison, Barbara Shields Purse, Octavius Shields, Denise Shields, Elaine Carothers, Nicole Thompson-Williams, Fred “Bo” Thompson and a host of other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, L.C. and Mary Bertha Smith, and siblings, Sylvia Shields, and Sylvester Smith.

Family and friends of Clyde are invited to attend the Visitation on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Immaculate Conception, 980 Verdunville Rd., Franklin, Louisiana from 9 am to 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 10:30 am. Our beloved Clyde will be laid to rest in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.

Family is requesting that attendees wear their favorite color to the services. Services will be live streamed to the Jones Funeral Home Facebook page.
