Judy “JuJu” Richard Duval, 66, a resident of Morgan City, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 8, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
JuJu was born on April 7, 1955 in Morgan City, the daughter of Johnny T. Richard and Lilian Giroir Richard.
JuJu loved her family and friends and cherished every opportunity she was able to spend with them. If you met JuJu once you will never forget her because she had a zest for life and always loved to have fun. She never met a stranger and was always willing to strike up a conversation with anyone. JuJu was a good soul who would do anything for anyone in need, she was the type of person who would give you the shirt off her back. She worked for M.E. Norman Elementary School as a custodian, retiring after 25 years of dedicated service. When she wasn’t working or spending time with her family, JuJu enjoyed her trips to the casino and going fishing.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 48 years, Thomas “Tommy” Duval Sr. of Morgan City; two children, Thomas Duval Jr. and wife Tina and Gloria Duval Smith and husband Harold Jr., both of Morgan City; five grandchildren, Calvin Mayon and companion Sadie, Jean Paul Templet and wife Maria, Austin Duval and companion Melanie, Dylan Duval and Juliana Smith; four great-grandchildren, Corlin Mayon, Sylvie Mayon, Oaklie Mayon and Jacques Michael Templet; two sisters, Mary Jane Sauce and Theresa Norman; three brothers, Johnny Richard, Victor Richard and Glen Richard; her beloved dog and friend Lulu; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
JuJu was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Peggy Crandall; and father and mother-in-law, Sonny and Dot Duval.
Memorial services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Twin City Funeral Home with Father Henry Sebastian officiating.
