JAMES STEPHENSON

James Coleman Stephenson, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018, from injuries sustained in a car accident in Barbour County. He was 32 years old.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Sumerlin officiating. Burial followed in Louisville City Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family received friends from 2-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Wiregrass Humane Society, P.O. Box 1045, Dothan, AL 36302.
Cole was born February 13, 1986, in Dothan, Alabama and was a 2005 graduate of Northview High School. After high school, he entered service with the U.S. Coast Guard and served for 10 years, stationed in St. Petersburg, Florida, Norfolk, Virginia, and Morgan City, Louisiana. Cole enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a huge Auburn football fan.
Survivors include his wife, Michelle Stephenson; his son, Hunter Dale Smith; his step-daughter, Scotlyn McGuerty; his mother, Michelle Stephenson; his sister, Kristina “Kristi” Jane Stephenson; his uncle, Jimmy (Doris) Stephenson; and his aunts, Pat (John) Rudd and Barbara (Bill) Scroggins.
Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home and Crematory, LLC, 1700 Barrington Road, Dothan, AL, (334) 983-6604, was in charge of arrangements.
