James Roland Dugas Sr.

James Roland Dugas Sr.

July 30, 1930 - March 28, 2018
James Roland Dugas Sr., 87, a resident of Patterson, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Patterson Healthcare Center.
James was born on July 30, 1930 in Westwego, the son of Wilson Dugas Sr. and Carmen Poirrier Dugas.
James served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps. He enjoyed being in the outdoors spending time with family fishing; it always seemed when he took someone fishing, he caught all the fish and the guest usually didn’t catch any. Early in life he enjoyed dancing and especially loved to do the jitterbug. He loved playing bingo in Houma with his friends and family. He loved traveling across country with his wife and their camper in tow. He loved spending time with his family, and had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. If LSU or the Saints were on, he always had the radio tuned in to the game. He worked for Schlumberger and retired after 38 years of service.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three children, James Dugas Jr. and wife Cindy of La Vergne, Tennessee, Robert A. Dugas and wife Tina of Patterson, and Dolores Billiot and husband Paul of Bayou Vista; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Allen Dugas and wife Audrey of Houma; and two sisters, Carmen Bussey and husband Stanley, and Lillian Dugas, both of Houma.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson Sr. and Carmen Poirrier Dugas; his wife, Mildred Rose Dugas; one sister, Ollie Fangue; and three brothers, Wilson Dugas Jr., Gene Dugas and Lawrence Dugas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Angelo Cremaldi celebrating Mass. A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass with a rosary being prayed at 11 a.m. Following Mass, James will be laid to rest in Ibert’s Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad.
