HERSHEL EVANS REED

Hershel Evans Reed, 82, a resident of Amelia, passed away on September 9, 2021 at Ochsner St. Mary.
Hershel was born on February 23, 1939 in Sheffield, Alabama, the son of John William Reed and Mildred Faye Kingsley Reed.
A veteran of the United States Army, Hershel Reed was a friend to all who knew him. A man of God and a dedicated family man, his favorite pastime was spending time with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His one love was his wife Bonnie of 56 years. He loved telling stories to anyone who would listen, stories of his life in the Army and time traveling with the carnival.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie Olivier Reed of Amelia; four children, Michael “Mike” Reed and wife Lisa of Denham Springs, Tammy Billiot of Morgan City, Paul Reed and wife Delaine of Patterson, and Crystal Reed and husband Joey Bowman of Amelia; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Hershel was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and one sister.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Twin City Funeral Home with a memorial visitation being held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the services, inurnment will be held in the Morgan City Cemetery.
