ELLEN ELIZABETH HINDS “DOLLY” CHANDLER

Funeral services celebrating the life of Ellen Elizabeth Hinds Chandler will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Baldwin during a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Following the Mass she will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Father Christopher Cambre will be the Celebrant for the Mass and conduct the service.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin beginning at 9 a.m., with the Rosary being prayed at 11 a.m., and dismissal at 1:45 p.m.
Dolly, as she was affectionately known, was born in the Parish of St. Michael, Barbados on Wednesday, November 20, 1935 and passed away at the age of 83 on Friday, September 13, 2019 at the Franklin Health Care Center. She immigrated to the U.S. and for the past 32 years has resided in Baldwin, where she was an active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters, Court Sacré Coeur #2572. Dolly was a friend to anyone she met and enjoyed volunteering at the Franklin Health Care Center and befriending many of the residents. Some of her favorite pastimes were cooking, crocheting, and knitting, but most of all she loved spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her children, William Wade Chandler, Harold Francis Chandler, and Robert Andrew Chandler, all of Barbados, Ellen Chandler Hebert and her husband Neal of Baldwin, and Catherine Ann Chandler of Baldwin; her siblings, Hallam “Harry” Hinds and wife Kim, Vera H. Lewis, Mariam Frances “Fran” H. Laurie, and Patricia H. Bloemendaal and her husband Gerry; 17 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Harcourt Hinds and Stella Hill Hinds; and six siblings, Clarence “Sam” Hinds, Charles “Soldat” Hinds, Manford “Joe” Hinds, Robert Hinds, Emeline Hinds-Gilvary, and John Anthony Hinds (infant).
Serving as pallbearers will be William Wade Chandler, Harold Francis Chandler, Robert Andrew Chandler, Neal Hebert, Damien Hebert, Charles Gomez, and Jamie Minor.
