CALVIN JAMES LELEUX

January 20, 1945-April 13, 2019
Calvin James Leleux, a native of New Iberia and a long-time resident of Berwick, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 13, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 74.
Calvin was an avid golfer, outdoorsman and excellent cook. He was a devoted father, husband, grandfather and friend. He loved playing poker with his Monday night poker pals and loved the companionship with Dennis, Nick, Jimmy, Dwalyn, Mike D and Mike T. He was an avid LSU, Saints and Los Angeles Dodger fan for 50+ years. Calvin loved spending time with his family and having cook-offs with his sister-in-law Helen and brother-in-law Sonny. Calvin was a brilliant engineer and boat builder at both Sewart Seacraft and Swiftships for over 50 years and loved his coworkers and employees. His business partners, Shehraze and Khurram, were like adopted sons that he cherished like his own son. He began his career as an engineer and worked his way up to ownership through his hard work and dedication. He developed relationships around the world traveling to over 70 countries and placing marine vessels in over 50 countries. Prior to his career in shipbuilding, he was a member of the United States Air Force and worked in the space program.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 51 years, Barbara Leleux; his son, Jeff Leleux and spouse Angelique; and his daughter, Michelle Denning and spouse Sean. He also leaves behind three beautiful grandchildren that he loved very much, Anna Marie Leleux, Luc Joseph Leleux and Jacob Lee Denning; one brother, Donald Leleux; and one sister, Dorothy Oubre.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Anna Leleux; and two brothers, Doris Leleux and Earl Leleux.
Pallbearers will be Sonny Baudry Jr., Rene Baudry, Vernon Overturf, Sean Denning, Ibrahim Aglan and Dennis Taylor.
The family requests that a time of visitation be observed on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, from 9 a.m. until time of services at noon at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Berwick. Following services, Calvin will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Carmelite Monastery, 1250 Carmel Dr., Lafayette, LA. 70501, St. Stephen Catholic Church, Berwick Junior High School or Berwick High School.
