BRUCE J. CORTEZ

July 8, 1949 — March 30, 2021
Bruce J. Cortez, age 71, a resident of Stephensville, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, in the comfort of his home. Bruce was born on July 8, 1949 in Kraemer, Louisiana, son of Cleveland and Eva Cortez.
If Bruce loved anything more than his wife Paulette, it would have been his passion for bass fishing. He had a love for being outdoors and being on the water. He loved Nascar and was an avid Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan. Bruce was the best provider for his family. He was the king of homemade Jambalaya and loved to grill.
He will never be forgotten by his wife Paulette Cortez, of 19 years, his three children: Boyd and Beau Cortez, and Beth Hebert; two grandsons, Tristan Hebert and Cameron Cortez and his five siblings.
When Bruce married his wife he adopted her family as his own. That’s the kind of man he was. Two children, Laurie Bailey Jr. and wife Chassidy of Stephensville and Trudi Barrilleaux and husband Jimmy of Stephensville, their five grandchildren: Shawna Bolin, Lance Barrilleaux, Felicia Bailey, Faith Bailey and Kali Slade. Four great-grandchildren: Shiloh, Brian, Jace and Jaide. His loyal furry pet, Wiggiles.
He will be deeply missed by his great friends Aline and Russel Romero, Beatrice Landry, and Lola Lodrigue.
Bruce is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Wayne, his sister Monica, sister-in-law Darlene Olsen and brother-in-law Larry.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 10 a.m. until time of Service at Hargrave Funeral Home. Service will begin at 2 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ronald McCoy presiding. Burial will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.
