BONNES VICTOR GUIDRY

August 28, 1943 — August 21, 2021
Bonnes Victor Guidry was born August 28, 1943 to Gustavia Fabre Guidry and Bernie Joseph Guidry. For 77 years he was a loving and generous son, brother, cousin, and friend and for 44 years a loving and generous husband, father, and grandfather. He departed from this life August 21, 2021 a week shy of his 78th birthday.
Known to many as “Capt. Bonnes”, he made a living and a life in the offshore oil industry for over 50 years as a Master of offshore anchor handling supply vessels from the first vessels for Otto Candies, Tidewater Marine, Arthur Levy Enterprise and Ensco Marine, to the deep water vessels of Edison Chouest, Nicor and Seacor Marine where he ended his career to retire in 2014. In the heydays of the oil industry in the Gulf of Mexico, Bonnes became an icon of skilled experienced maritime personnel where he learned much and taught many how to become competent seaman with good work ethic. He made many friends and “family” along the way as he worked not only in the gulf, but wherever the work might take him in other countries such as Ireland, Italy and Nigeria. Bonnes enjoyed hunting, fishing, eating out, visiting friends and family, and buying things, especially vehicles!
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernie Joseph Guidry and Gustavia Fabre Guidry; and by his brother, Ewald Joseph Guidry.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 44 years, Jamie Bernauer Guidry; daughter, Danielle Guidry Miller (Adam); son, Bonnes Joseph “B.J.” Guidry (Crystal); and son, Todd Victor Guidry (Razel); eight grandchildren, Devan Guidry Szczepanski (Brett), Natalie Guidry Ducrest (J.P.), Hailei Guidry, Nate Rosquite, Paris Mikaela Guidry, Preston Oliver Joseph Guidry, Aaron Jordan “A.J.” Miller, and Pearce Victoria Guidry; six great-grandchildren, Parker, Grant, Hank, and Myles Szczepanski and Bradley and Aella Ducrest.
Bonnes passed away at Ochsner St. Mary in Morgan City after succumbing to multiple chronic illnesses. The family is very grateful to the staff at Patterson Health Care for doing their best throughout a pandemic to keep residents safe and cared for; to Dr. Natalie Dishman and staff for quality hands-on care; to Ochsner for quality care during many recent stays; and to Heart of Hospice for their end-of-life care and support of the family. Finally, and most importantly, we are grateful to God for Bonnes’ life.
